How To Entertain Yourself While Questing Alone

Rate this Entry
So, I'm back to the old quest grinding in WoW eagerly trying to get to level 80 for the upcoming 10 man ICC runs. However, I need to step it up a notch cause Toljar is recruiting a bunch of new people that could overstep my place! But ... it's SO BORING questing and questing and questing alone. Digging through Talbuk poop, rescuing that damn Corki that keeps pissing Ogre's off, the sad little Sporlings being pwnd by creatures that smell their own armpits, blah blah blah blah. Oh and the endless PUGS in random dungeons that ninja loot or are just stupid .... UGH! ... You get the picture.

So, I have come up with some pretty creative ways to keep myself entertained while I grind this out. Feel free to add, criticize, utilize or ignore any of these.

1. Throw on some music in the background. Anything will do. I like to pretend that I'm making a movie and do emotes to the song like /cheer /cry /lol etc. It makes it more entertaining.

2. Outloud, start telling a perilous tale as your character quests. For example.. "Jezanee knows this work is hard to stomach, but digging through poop will grant her the undying ability to breath underwater! She must finish this task to cleanse this land of the horrible water spirits that are destroying it!" ... Something like that. Make it as silly as you wish, noone will hear you talking to yourself ...

3. Try and hold your breath while you are finishing a quest. This will keep you from dilly dallying around. You need to kill 10 Ogre's? Get it done before you pass out!

4. If you blink super fast over and over again while your character is running, it begins to look like when people dance in a strobe light! This hurts your eyes after a little bit and it has gotten me ganked a few times cause I wasn't paying attention, however ... still passes the time.

5. Find a random person in your area that is of the same level and try and group with them. Then, be as silly as possible. If they kill something, OVER congratulate them. For example... "OMG (random username) You were SO amazing when you killed that Netherwing ... HOLY CRAP I've never seen someone play so AMAZING before!! YOU ARE MY HERO!". They will eventually kick you from group (at least that's what happened to me), but you got some free XP for it!

6. Try and do random things with your face. Like, I didn't know I could touch my nose with my tongue. I learned that while doing the Nessingwary quests. I also tried wiggling my nose, ears and forehead. I got the nose part down, the rest just made me look like an idiot, but hey ... none of you could see me so I don't care!

That's pretty much all I have for now. Feel free to add your own in the comments below!

For anybody who is a low level (1-50) and trying to figure out how to get those levels done as fast as possible. The way i have found best for it is to get another low level with you, preferably the same level but within 4 levels will do. Then get an 80 in group with you and just run instances over and over and over. Having the extra low level in group with you actual seems to increase the "group experience" you get, and it also lets you put your lowbie on follow if you have the ability to dual box, cutting down the time it takes to move through the instance.

I would recommend starting SM around level 20 and then starting to do ZF and 40. Those 20 levels of SM will be painful, tedious and boring; but overall much faster than questing.

I leveled my rogue from 1-50 in 2 days doing this and my druid 15-40 in a night. So far my favorite for running instances is affliction warlock closely followed by DK and Paladin.

You could also play another game if questing alone is boring, that's what I do
